Just like psychotherapy conducted in a stationary office, also on-line psychotherapy is a long-term form of personal work, addressed to people suffering from various mental problems.

The difference between inpatient psychotherapy and on-line psychotherapy lies in a different form of communication. The psychotherapist and the client communicate via Skype, Zoom, Vcee or other communicator. Thanks to this, people who have problems reaching the office, live abroad, often travel or for other reasons for which the traditional form of therapy is impossible, can benefit from this form of psychotherapy.

On-line psychotherapy is as effective as in-office psychotherapy. However, it requires from the therapist slightly different skills and greater awareness, resulting from the limited possibility of contact. The possibilities of working with the body, which require the physical presence of the client in the office, are significantly limited. Depending on the internet connection of the equipment used, the camera's focus will be more or less visible. Typically, the screen shows the face, arms, partly hands. Therefore, it is difficult for the therapist to perceive the client in their entire emotional and body functioning. Nevertheless, there is a whole range of possibilities for therapeutic work that can be effectively used in on-line psychotherapy. One of the most important elements influencing the effectiveness of therapy is the therapeutic relationship itself. The quality of this relationship is slightly influenced by the form of psychotherapy, and to a great extent by the personality of the psychotherapist, his qualifications and experience. What may be an additional difficulty in on-line psychotherapy and what this time is on the client's side is to ensure a comfortable place where he will be able to freely talk about matters that are difficult for him, being sure that the topics of the conversation will not be heard by others people sharing space with him, whether at work or at home, or in other situations.
